Christina’s Approach
Christina’s initial focus is on the problems happening right now and helping clients see some changes quickly to avoid discouragement. Then, for long term change, she is skilled at conceptualizing the origins of problem emotions and behaviors in terms of early childhood learning and experiences. She is adept at identifying and validating addictive family or chaotic family patterns and roles that may have contributed to ongoing painful circumstances. She is personally and professionally aware of the difficulties that arise in families, and she helps clients set personal limits and chart a new course. Her mission is twofold: First, to help clients increase their capabilities to problem solve unwanted behaviors through teaching new skills; Second, to enhance their motivation by balancing acceptance and validation with gentle pushes to change. Her belief is that we are all doing the best we can with the skills we have AND we can all do a little better.
